Get ready for Fitness and Conditioning
One way to prepare your body for a conditioning or fitness program is to start from the inside. Having your internal functioning at its best will help you get to your goals a bit faster. Why? It’s because of all the toxins from the air water and food we absorb. Our bodies, i.e. Liver, Kidneys work a bit harder than they have to sometime just because of the diet and environments we find ourselves in on a daily basis.
I am a big fan of cleansing and detoxifying from the inside. Recently, I finished an awesome 9 day cleanse and detox with my favourite nutritional supplement system; Isagenix. The gentle cleanse and detox got me from 158.2 lbs, 35 inch waist and 25.4% Body fat to 152.4, 33 inch waist and 23% B.F in 9 days! Plus I feel great.
Now the next move is to implement and commit to the conditioning and fitness program I designed to get my whole person to the level I want to be. I just wanted to put it out there in today’s Fitness blog; cleansing is a great way to prepare for your fitness goals.
If you have any comments, I would love to hear from you.
The 5 Secrets to Boot Camp Success
Todays fitness blog message is all about the easiest way to get results you want when it comes to exercise. Are you up for it?
Your success in a Boot Camp program is dependent on only 5 things. They are very important and they are easily achieved. Here’s how.
† Set a Goal:
Goal setting sets you up for success at the outset. When you set a goal, you set in motion universal principles that will literally bring success your way.
You must be clear about the goal: be specific, make it measureable, achievable, based on results and within a specific time.
By the way, the bold type is an acronym for the word SMART.
An example of a smart goal for Boot Camp success could be; “It is now March 1st 2011 and I ________________, weigh ____________ have a body fat % of ______________ wear a size _____________ and can do _________ push ups in one minute.”
† Commit and be Accountable:
It may sound hard but this one is easy, especially when you put it into practice. We are all motivated by one of two things; our desire to avoid pain or our desire for pleasure. When you commit (to yourself and others) and when you are accountable (to yourself and others) the desire that motivates you the most will appear.
When my friends and my kids ask me how my fitness plan/work outs or studies in nutrition are coming, I feel great that I do what’s necessary to get what I need; Avoiding pain and getting pleasure from learning and progressing.
That leads me to number three in the 5 steps to success in Boot Camps.
† Do whatever it takes:
Boot Camp success isn’t guessing. It isn’t based on hope. It is based on doing the work. Remember this line from your youth? “It isn’t going to get done by itself.”
It’s how success in any endeavour happens. You do the work, you get success. I think it should be one of the universal principles of this world. The beauty of this success tip is that you have the Boot Camp trainer to help you, to motivate, to challenge and make you step up and do what it takes. I have seen it countless times with many personal training clients and countless Boot Camp participants.
† Exercise is less than half the equation!
To get you to your goal of ______, we can start to understand that exercise is only part of the equation to success. In my opinion, the biggest factor, or the one factor which influences the success of your Boot Camp experience the most is nutrition; The who, what, where, when, why and how of food.
We are talking about a very complex subject here. There are you as a person, your habits, likes, dislikes, beliefs and much, much, more. Please understand this; my background is in Advanced Sports Nutrition. I have the answers and the plan to tackle the five W’s and the how.
† Get Started Early:
If you’re one of those people that has a tendency to come up with some really great “reasons” (excuses) to skip out on your boot camp sessions then your best bet is to get started early in the morning. A recent study showed that people who get their training in first thing in the day are 75% more likely to stick with it and be successful by making it part of their routine.
A good tip is to find a buddy, spouse, and friend or work colleague to go to work outs with. This tip helps out with a couple of the tips here doesn’t it? Accountability; it’s kind of hard to bail out on a session when your friend is picking you up. Commitment; need I say more?
Ok, you have the secrets, the keys to the success bank when it comes to Boot Camps. When you set a goal you have already started to see success; success in your attitude. Commitment, accountability to you and others as well as doing whatever it takes enables you to really feel good about what you’re going for. And, when you learn about your body and how food affects it, you don’t have chances of success anymore, you have guarantees!
